This is another example of a queen post cabin design, this time with shed dormers over two of the bays.  The cordwood infill lightens the dining area, and the suspended staircase landing makes for an interesting loft space.  Here's a sample floor plan for a queen post cabin design, and here's the loft .

After extensive research on the internet about Timber Framing, looking at all the companies that offer it, comparing prices and quality, I chose Northern Lights Timber Framing for two distinct reasons.

The first was Clark Bremer, who is not only the owner, but also carves and installs the frame as well - he's not just a salesman.  He displayed extraordinary patience working with me on this project.  This was the first time I acted as my own General Contractor, so I had a multitude of questions, not only about timber framing, but the entire building process.  He answered all of my questions, or directed me to someone who could if he didn't know.  He was always just a phone call away.

The second reason I chose Northern Lights was that the same crew the carved the timbers also came out to raise the frame.  I didn't have to look for a crew in the north woods that had timber framing experience.  Even after the crew finished and left, he remained in touch with me after the raising, and saw me through to the end of the project.

Northern Lights Timber Framing did an outstanding job with the timbers.  They're beautiful, and are getting even better as they age (just as they promised).  I highly recommend Clark and his crew at Northern Lights Timber Framing if you want an exquisite product and the personalized care that I got.
